Parking Meters

Meter rates are $.25 in the city of Newark, and effective from Monday–Saturday, 9 A.M. until 6 P.M unless posted otherwise. Parking meters only accept coins, but you are also able to pay online using the city’s Parkmobile app. Remembering to feed the meter can be stressful, and if you go over your time, the Newark Parking Authority will slap you with a $45 parking ticket.

Residential On-Street Parking

Similar to other major cities, Newark has limited free street parking. Most of the street parking requires a permit, and if you do not have an applicable permit, you can rack up fines of $35 each.
