Position Details

SpotHero is seeking a Staff Engineer to be part of the team working across all of our front-end products. This team owns building out new features & products, and improving existing ones that allow millions of customers find and book parking seamlessly.

What will you do:

  • Own the overall architecture of our front-end systems, from our consumer product to our merchant platform to the internal systems.
  • Evolve the front-end architecture, tooling and performance monitoring, to ensure product development teams are able to build quickly and test efficiently, while not sacrificing quality.
  • Collaborate with product designers, fellow engineers and data scientists to build and iterate on experiments and product features that immediately impact our customers
  • Guide the team in driving and scaling technology development for the next generation of products.
  • Be a technical evangelist for all things front-end. Know how to strategically introduce new technology to an existing team.
  • Use technologies and tools like React, Redux, Webpack, Gulp, and node.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Evolve our UI component library, standards and best practices to streamline development and ensure consistency across products.

  • Has experience in technical leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, modern JavaScript libraries, front-end tooling and performance.
  • You have at least 7 years of hands-on experience as an Engineer, and 3 - 5 years experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc...)
  • UI and/or unit testing with tools like Cypress, Jest, Enzyme, etc…
  • Have a strong understanding in other domains, closely related to front-end systems (e.g. front-end to backend interaction patterns, backend architecture, A/B testing frameworks, etc)


Nice to haves:

  • Familiarity with server-side MVC web frameworks, such as Django or Rails
  • Design and UX skill set/experience
  • Open source contributions to major projects
