Parking Near Boston College

Boston College is a private university that lies within the affluent village of Chestnut Hill in Newton, Mass. Founded in 1863, the university was the first Catholic Jesuit school in the Boston area, originally located in Boston's South End. It wouldn't be until 1909 that the main campus got moved to Chestnut Hill and designed in a gothic revival and beaux-arts architectural style. This made it one of the most strikingly beautiful sets of buildings in the area. In fact, the campus of this Jesuit research university has been classified as a historic landmark because of its unique collegiate gothic architecture.

The main campus, commonly referred to as "the Heights," is six miles west of Boston and includes 120 buildings overlooking the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. In addition to the main campus, you'll find the Newton campus a mile west and the Brighton Campus across Commonwealth Avenue. Within all of the campuses, you'll find eight libraries containing a vast collection of historic rare books, antiquities, manuscripts, government documents, and ancient pieces of art. Of the libraries, the Bapst Library features intricate stained-glass windows that definitely make it worthy of a visit.

While at Boston College, don't forget to stop by Devlin Hall, which has won awards for its architectural beauty. Or attend a show at the college's Robsham Theater Arts Center. You'll also want to cheer on the Boston College Eagles during football games at Alumni Stadium or hockey games at Conte Forum. And head over to the Brighton Campus to tour the McMullen Museum of Art, which houses a vast art collection from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Additionally on the Brighton campus is the Harrington Athletics Village, home to the Eagles baseball team.

Whether you're headed to Boston College to admire the architecture, visit their extensive libraries, attend an Eagles sporting event, see a show, or simply tour the campus before starting classes, you'll need to find parking.
