Parking Near Public Garden
Dating back to 1839, Boston's Public Garden is America's oldest botanical public park. It was first proposed by Horace Gray, Sr., an avid horticulturist. Filled with a bevy of colorful blooms and exotic trees, this Victorian-designed greenspace is sure to brighten your day as you wander among its winding paths. You'll also enjoy the calming fountains, lovely six-acre pond, and charming statues among the flowers. Take a ride on one of the famous pedal-operated Swan Boats across the pond or stroll across the bridge that spans it.
Within the garden are plenty of historical statues and sculptures including the George Washington equestrian statue, the Ether Monument, and monuments to famous figures in history including Edward Everett Hale, Wendell Phillips, Colonel Thomas Cass, Charles Sumner, Tadeusz Kościuszko, and William Ellery Channing. You'll also find the "Angel of the Waters" fountain, Triton Babies Fountain, "Boy and Bird" fountain, "Bagheera" fountain, a set of adorable bronze duckling statues based on characters from "Make Way for Ducklings," and one of the oldest Japanese lanterns in existence. Boston Public Garden also has a memorial to the Massachusetts victims of Sept. 11, 2001.
Adjacent to Boson Common, Boston's Public Garden is the garden oasis that urban city dwellers head off to when they need a bit of fresh air. It's 24 acres of colorful flower beds and botanical beauty that frame the skyline of Boston, which is why it's a popular spot for photo shoots and selfies. The park is also part of the city's Emerald Necklace system of parks.
Whether you're headed to the Public Garden for a stroll in the sunshine or for a stress-alleviating jog, you'll need to find somewhere safe and convenient to park your car when you arrive.
